In a significant development, fans' favourite Royal Challengers Bangalore have bought West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph for a whopping price of INR 11.5 Crores in the ongoing IPL mini-auction at the Coca Cola arena in Dubai. RCB have solidified their overseas core by adding Joseph to their squad for the 2024 edition of the tournament.

Alzarri Joseph had set INR 1 Cr as his base price. As soon as his name popped up on the big screen, MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings got engaged in a mini bidding war with Delhi Capitals for the Caribbean pace spearhead.

CSK backed out when the price touched the 3 Cr mark, with Lucknow Super Giants replacing him. Meanwhile, RCB played the waiting game to perfection and joined the battle when the price read 6.80 Cr. They eventually won the bidding war, securing Joseph for INR 11.5 Crores.

The Faf du Plessis-led side tried their heart out to buy Pat Cummins for the bowling all-rounder's role, but failed in their mission, with the Aussie skipper joining Sunrisers Hyderabad for more than 20 Crores.

As of now, the Royal Challengers have bought only Joseph and have INR 10.75 Crores left in the bank.
