Indian stalwart Virat Kohli, renowned for his exceptional batting skills and significant contributions to the country’s cricket, has recently been lauded by captain Rohit Sharma for his exemplary attitude and dedication to the sport.

Rohit motivates young cricketers to seek inspiration from Kohli

In a conversation with Dinesh Karthik on Jio Cinema, Rohit highlighted the valuable lessons that young cricketers can learn from Kohli, not just in terms of technical skills but also in their approach to the game.

Rohit expressed admiration for Kohli's relentless quest for excellence and his ability to maintain high standards despite achieving considerable success at the international level. The 36-year-old pointed out that Kohli's never-ending hunger for the game and his absence from the National Cricket Academy throughout his career are proofs of his passion and self-driven nature.

"Virat Kohli has never been to NCA in his entire career. I would say that all the younger players should look up to the passion that he has. Leave alone how he plays the cover drive, flick, cut but first things first you have to understand what is the quality of the players that makes him where he is today,” said Rohit.

He believes that young players should take inspiration from Kohli's attitude and dedication, which are crucial qualities that have contributed to his status as one of the greatest batters of all time.

"I have watched Kohli enough. He can easily be satisfied with what he has achieved. He can say that I will take it easy in these 2-3 series, I will come later, but he is always there for the team. That mindset of being hungry and not complacent cannot be taught. You have to learn that from by looking at the others. It has to come from within. I cannot teach you that," added the Indian skipper.

According to Rohit, the mindset of staying hungry and not being complacent is something that cannot be taught but must be observed and emulated. He stressed the importance of internal motivation and the need for young cricketers to adopt a similar attitude to succeed at the highest level. His advice to emerging players is to prioritize passion, pride, and commitment to the team above technical aspects of the game.

"That is the first thing that I would say rather than looking at Virat Kohli or others technically. You have to stay hungry all the time, bring the passion and the pride to everything, being out there in the sun, playing for the team and getting the job done. This is what I want to the guys to have first," concluded Rohit.

Currently, Virat Kohli is taking a personal break but is expected to rejoin the Indian team for the third Test match of the series. His return is eagerly anticipated by fans and teammates alike, as he continues to be a prominent figure in Indian cricket.
