"Very Positive Environment": Ashutosh Sharma Applauds Axar Patel's Captaincy

Delhi Capitals (DC) will face Mumbai Indians (MI) in Match 29 of IPL 2025 at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 13. Leading the standings with eight points and an unbeaten streak, DC boasts a formidable net run rate of +1.278. 

In contrast, MI languish in ninth place with two points and a -0.010 NRR, having secured only one win in their last five matches. The clash pits the league’s top team against a struggling MI side desperate to revive their campaign. 

However, ahead of the clash, Ashutosh Sharma, the youngster opened up on the approach of their new captain Axar Patel heaping praise on him.

Ashutosh Sharma Praises Axar Patel’s Leadership

At the pre-match press conference, DC’s Ashutosh Sharma lauded Axar Patel’s impact, emphasizing his role in fostering a supportive team environment. 

“As for Axar bhai’s captaincy—he’s been leading really well. He’s made all the youngsters feel comfortable. We can talk to him about anything, and he's created a very positive environment,” said Sharma.

The batter also highlighted his process-driven mindset when asked about his approach on the field. 

“Honestly, I don’t focus too much on results. I believe in my abilities and always concentrate on the process... [It] reduces pressure.”

Meanwhile, speaking of Axar Patel, the Delhi skip with 154 IPL appearances, has scored 1,711 runs and taken 123 wickets. 

Meanwhile, Ashutosh Sharma has impressed in his 14-match IPL career, amassing 256 runs at a blistering strike rate of 176.55. As DC aim to extend their winning streak, MI face an uphill battle to climb from the bottom of the table at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
