'That’s Going To Happen...' Ex-KKR Batter Reckons Will Jacks Will Replace Maxwell In RCB XI

Former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter Aakash Chopra is of the opinion that Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) might consider replacing Glenn Maxwell with Will Jacks in their playing XI if they continue to struggle with the bat.

In the ongoing IPL season, RCB has only managed to win just one out of their first four matches. While they recovered from the initial defeat against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) with a victory over the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at home, they have lost two back-to-back games against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

Batting has been a major letdown for them so far this season. Apart from Virat Kohli, Mahipal Lomror, and Dinesh Karthik, none of the other batters, including star players like Maxwell and captain Faf du Plessis, have been able to contribute significantly with the bat.

Aakash Chopra wants Will Jacks to replace Maxwell

In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Chopra discussed the potential team changes that RCB might need to make in order to turn around their fortunes.

“(Glenn) Maxwell might be dropped first and then the captain might come under pressure. The pressure will come on the captain because Will Jacks is an opener. I feel that's going to happen. Let's see when Will Jacks gets a chance to play,"  Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

Maxwell's performance with the bat has been disappointing so far this season, managing only 31 runs in four innings at a poor average of 7.75.

Similarly, Faf has also struggled to find form this season, scoring just 65 runs at an average of 16.25 in four matches, unlike his performance in the previous season.

On the other hand, Will Jacks has been in excellent form in T20 cricket recently. Not only is he an explosive batter, but he also provides a handy option as an off-spinner, much like Maxwell.
