The IPL 2025 is becoming the centre point of discussion among cricket fans as the retention deadline draws close. While it will be interesting for the fans to see the retentions of all the teams, a few names will draw particular traction and interest.
One of the most influential and popular names is MS Dhoni. The World Cup-winning skipper has been a legend of the game for the Indian team and his IPL franchise, CSK. Rumours about his availability for the upcoming season of the Grand League have been going on for a long time. However, the superstar has made a statement that will delight the CSK and MSD fans.
MS Dhoni talks about enjoying the twilight of his cricket career
In a recent promotional event for the software brand Rigi, MS Dhoni said, "I just want to enjoy whatever last few years of cricket I am able to play," as quoted by the Times of India.
"When you play cricket like a professional sport, it becomes difficult to enjoy it just like a game. That's what I want to do; it's not easy. The emotions keep coming; the commitments are there. I want to enjoy the game for the next few years,"- added MSD.
MS Dhoni has retired from international cricket for over five years. His last appearance in the Indian Blues was in the 2019 ODI World Cup semi-final against New Zealand. Since then, Dhoni has played only in IPL for the Chennai Super Kings. This requires him to keep his fitness up for nine to ten months for playing a couple of months of cricket.
"I have to keep myself fit for nine months, so that I can play two and a half months of IPL. You need to plan it out, but at the same time chill a bit," - said Dhoni.
