In the wake of India's defeat to Australia in the ICC World Cup 2023 final, star batsman Shubman Gill took to his official Instagram handle to share his sentiments. Despite a stellar campaign, Gill couldn't replicate his earlier performances in the crucial final against the Australians at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Here's what Shubman Gill posted:

Gill's heartfelt message, accompanied by a team photo, conveyed the raw emotions of the defeat:

"Been almost 16 hours but still hurts like it did last night. Sometimes giving your everything isn’t enough. We fell short of our ultimate goal but every step in this journey has been a testament to our team's spirit and dedication. To our incredible fans, your unwavering support in our highs and lows means the world to us. This isn't the end, it’s not over until we win. Jai Hind🇮🇳"

The final saw Australian opener Travis Head steal the spotlight with a stunning century of 137 runs. Australia ultimately triumphed over India by six wickets, securing their sixth ICC Men’s ODI World Cup title. Mitchell Starc's three-wicket haul, supported by Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood, restricted India to a total of 240 runs in 50 overs.

Despite a challenging start for Australia, with early wickets falling to Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah, Head's partnership with Marnus Labuschagne proved pivotal. Head's remarkable century, his fifth in ODIs, guided Australia to a comfortable victory over India.

Australia's journey in the tournament was a rollercoaster, beginning with two consecutive losses but culminating in seven wins in the league phase. The triumph over South Africa in the semifinal and the resounding victory against India in the final showcased Australia's resilience and determination.
