It was a clinical win for team India in the 3rd ODI against Australia at Sydney. Furthermore, it was a special day for fans as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, two iconic India greats, played a memorable knock together on the ground to hand Australia a 9-wicket defeat.

After the match, India head coach Gautam Gambhir shared his thoughts on the series on a positive note despite the 2-1 loss, as the Impact Player of the Series was also awarded.

Gautam Gambhir happy with team performance

In a video released by BCCI, Gautam Gambhir was seen addressing the players in the dressing room. Gambhir was direct and positive while analyzing the aspects of the game.

"We spoke about turning up today, wanting to do something special. We wanted to be desperate and hungry. We wanted to put our bodies on the line, and I thought we did everything we aimed for. We ticked all the boxes," Gambhir said.

Gambhir then went on to mention the bowling efforts that restricted Australia to just a total of 236 for India to chase. Gambhir also didn't forget to mention Harshit's 4-fer and gave a few tips for him for the future as well.

"Especially at the start, I thought the bowlers were outstanding. Considering the kind of start Australia had, 63 for no loss after 10 overs, to then restrict them to 237 was exceptional. A special mention to Harshit; that was an outstanding spell. Stay humble, stay grounded, and keep working hard. This is just the start, not the end. " Gambhir said.

Gambhir lauds Rohit Sharma

Gautam Gambhir then lauded Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for the match-winning partnership that saw the end of the game. Gambhir also congratulated Rohit for his 33rd century while praising Virat Kohli's efforts.

"With the bat, I thought the partnership between Shubman and Rohit was very important, 60 for no loss, and then the partnership between Rohit and Virat was again outstanding and very clinical. A special mention to Rohit for another outstanding hundred and, most importantly, for finishing it off," Gambhir concluded.

After Gambhir's speech, Rohit Sharma was handed the Impact Player of the Series Award. Notably, Rohit was the top run scorer of the series with his 202 from 3 innings, as he boasts an average of 101.0. Harshit Rana, meanwhile, was the top wicket-taker with 6 wickets from his 3 innings.
