On Wednesday, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) suffered a humiliating defeat against Sunrisers Hyderbad, losing by 10 wickets. Following the match, a video surfaced showing LSG Skipper being reprimanded by team owner Sanjiv Goenka near the LSG dugout.

The viral clip captured a conversation between KL Rahul and Goenka, where the star batter remained silent after the crushing loss to the Orange Army. Meanwhile, Goenka engaged in an animated discussion with the skipper.

The incident sparked widespread reaction from fans, questioning the propriety of such treatment.

Criticism also targeted LSG's team owner for publicly reprimanding the captain. India's pacer Mohammed Shami, currently recovering from an injury, also voiced support for his teammate.

“Players have respect, and you are a respectful person, too, as you are an owner. Many people are watching you and learning from you. If these things happen in front of cameras… ye sharam ki baat hai. it's a matter of shame.”

However, LSG are placed sixth on the points table, with 6 wins in 12 matches. Their recent loss to Pat Cummins & Co., who chased down the score in just 9.4 overs, was a major setback.

As IPL 2024 progresses, reports speculate that KL Rahul might be dropped from the team for the remaining 2 matches and released for the 2025 auctions. LSG had acquired him for ₹17 crore at the IPL 2022 auction.
