The 23-year-old Kiwi all-rounder Rachin Ravindra has taken the World Cup by storm. His rocking form in this year’s World Cup edition has not only caused headaches for various bowling attacks but has also tumbled some long-standing batting records in World Cup history.

Rachin has been an amazing find for New Zealand Cricket in the past 12 months or so and as we gradually progress to the business end of the tournament, his form will be extremely vital in ensuring that the Blackcaps earn a well-deserved spot in the semi-finals.

During New Zealand’s clash against Pakistan on Sunday, Rachin joined the elite club alongside Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson by becoming the third Kiwi batter to score 500 or more runs in a single World Cup edition. He got to this milestone by smashing a mouthwatering ton of 108 (94) becoming the only batter from the country to have three centuries in a single ODI World Cup edition.

However, in the midst of his exceptional run against Pakistan in Bengaluru, the left-handed batter achieved a rare milestone by going past his idol Sachin Tendulkar’s record. He now attains the record for being the only batter in the history of international cricket to have three World Cup centuries before the age of 24. Previously this record was held by Sachin Tendulkar who had two to his name, both scored in the 1996 World Cup - 127* against Kenya and 137* against Sri Lanka.

Following his impressive knock, former Indian batsman Virender Sehwag lauded the youngster while simultaneously poking fun at the Pakistan cricket team by making mention of Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar. He stated that Tendulkar and Dravid have long troubled Pakistan and the onslaught seems to be continuing even to this date.

Earlier, the top-order batting all-rounder had disclosed that his name, 'Rachin', was derived from a combination of the first names of Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar. New Zealand established a monumental score of 401 against Pakistan, thanks to the contributions of Rachin's 108 and Williamson's 95. But their efforts weren’t enough as Fakhar Zaman smashed an unbelievable ton to get Pakistan over the line in a rain-effected encounter.
