Former South African star player AB de Villiers has voiced strong support for Pakistan's dynamic batter, Babar Azam. He is currently facing a dip in form after poor performance with bat in recently concluded tri-nation ODI series. Speaking during a live interaction on his YouTube channel, Ab de Villiers offered valuable advice and praised Babar’s for his batting capabilities He also advised him to remain focused on his batting ahead of Champions Trophy 2025.

"Babar Azam is in good form; he just needs to keep doing what he's doing. He’s the fastest to 6,000 runs alongside Hashim Amla, so he must be doing something right."

The South African dynamic batter also suggested that without the added responsibility of leading the team, Babar could now fully concentrate on his batting and rediscover his rhythm. It worth mentioning that Babar Azam had become the fastest cricketer to reach 6,000 ODI runs alongside Hashim Amla.

"Now that the pressure of captaincy is gone, he can let Rizwan handle that burden and support him, especially with the bat. Just focus on scoring runs. That’s the same advice I give my son when he’s frustrated about not making a team or not batting where he wants."de Villiers said.

Can Babar Regain Form Ahead Of Champions Trophy?

As the Champions Trophy 2025 looms, questions have been raised about Babar’s position in the batting order. Despite his struggles at the top of the order in the recent series, where he scored modestly in three matches. Historically, Babar has excelled at No. 3, with over 5,400 runs at an average of 60.17 and a strike rate of 88.33, including 19 centuries.

With the Champions Trophy fast approaching, Pakistan will likely expect that Babar can regain his form and silence any doubts surrounding his role in the opening position.
