The cricketing battle between India and Pakistan is much more than just a game; a rare sight in modern-day, fans in early 80s-90s were lucky enough to witness both the countries play against one another a little more than often. The strained political relations between India and Pakistan, have resulted in no Tours between the nations since 2008. Since then, the two teams have only met in ICC tournaments and the Asia Cup.

Moin Khan Expresses His Sadness

Speaking on this, former cricketer and coach, Moin Khan expressed his sadness over India not  coming to Pakistan for the on-going ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had informed that India would not be travelling to the neighbouring nation due to security reasons. As a result of which, the tournament is being carried out in a hybrid model wherein all of India's matches are taking place in United Arab Emirates.

“It is really sad that they have not come to Pakistan this time,” Moin said, speaking to Telecom Asia Sport.

"I assure you that millions of fans here are eager to watch live mega stars like Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma, Rishab Pant and others in Lahore and Karachi, but it is really sad that they have not come to Pakistan this time," he added.

Khan Puts Forward Cricket Diplomacy Idea

He also added that both the boards i.e. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and BCCI should adopt 'cricket diplomacy' and make things work so that Pakistan and India bi-lateral matches cam be carried out regularly.

“I strongly feel the people and officials from both nations, as well as the two boards, should adopt cricket diplomacy to make things work and help resume Pak-India bilateral matches regularly,” Moin said, emphasizing the need for both countries to come together through the sport to rebuild ties.

Meanwhile, India and Pakistan are all set to lock horns with one another in the upcoming match of ICC Champions Trophy on 23 February.
