'Kohli Won't Be Satisfied Until He Gets His Hand On The Trophy' - Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan Singh believes star India batter Virat Kohli has indirectly got a deserved break from the game amidst his paternity leave since the birth of his second child and backed the modern-day legend to comeback fresh and raring to go.

The former India spinner reckons Kohli will return hungrier for success with the bat, which could be pertinent to Team India's fortunes as they gear up to try and end the longstanding ICC trophy jinx at the forthcoming T20 World Cup 2024 in June.

Before the marquee biannual event, the great right-hander will have the chance to prep up via his stint in the IPL 2024 for the famed Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), having not played any competitive cricket since mid January when he returned to the T20I team against Afghanistan.

Harbhajan Backs Kohli To Grab T20 World Cup Trophy

Harbhajan said Kohli would be hurting over India's painstaking loss in the final of the ICC World Cup 2023, where he dominated the runs-chart but couldn't end with the coveted silverware, and underlined how dissatisfied the legend would be feeling until he does grab a major title for the country.

"Virat Kohli didn't appear on the ground. He needed a well-deserving rest and he got it," Harbhajan said, referring to Kohli's paternity leave for the birth of his son 'Akaay' and his scheduled comeback to competitive duties via the IPL 2024 for RCB.

"So that feeling stays in the mind of the player. I think he won't be satisfied until he gets his hand on the trophy. He has broken a lot of records and scored a lot of runs. His hunger will be satisfied when he gets his hands on the World Cup trophy," he added.

Notably, Kohli was the top run-getter for India at the previous iteration of the T20 World Cup in November 2022 but a loss in the semifinal against England rained on the 35-year-old's parade.

He will be determined to go two steps further this time when India travel to the USA and the West Indies for the high-octane event.
