Mahedi Hasan is keeping things simple ahead of Bangladesh’s Asia Cup 2025 Super Fours clash against India. While the hype around facing India usually reaches its peak, the off-spinner made it clear he isn’t losing focus.
Mahedi Hasan shrugs off pressure before facing India
Calm and collected, Mahedi Hasan insisted that for him and his teammates, it’s business as usual. Bangladesh started the Super Four stage with a win over Sri Lanka, but their next hurdle is India, led by Suryakumar Yadav. Despite the challenge, Mahedi brushed aside any talk of pressure.
“Not after winning a match. From the start, we stay normal. The way we are, the way our body language is — we aren’t overthinking. We’re just going out there to play a cricket match. Whether the opponent is India or Australia, that’s not our concern,” he said.
History doesn’t weigh him down
The numbers are stacked against Bangladesh with only one win in 17 T20Is against India and none in multinational tournaments. But Mahedi shrugged off the record, choosing instead to focus on the present.
“It depends on the match situation. Everything comes down to the match situation,” he said, showing he is more concerned about the here and now than any past results.
Blocking out the noise
When India is the opponent, the hype machine goes into overdrive. Fans and social media crank up the chatter, but Mahedi isn’t paying attention.
“We’re not thinking about that. That’s created by you (the media) or by the fans. We’ll just play the way we’ve been playing every international match — normally,” he added.
As Bangladesh gear up for India, Mahedi Hasan’s words set the tone. No panic, no overthinking, just cricket. For him, it’s “just another match” and that is exactly the mindset Bangladesh will need if they want to topple the favourites.
