India’s pace ace Mohammed Shami has dismissed Gautam Gambhir's concerns about India playing all their Champions Trophy 2025 matches in Dubai. He asserted that familiarity with the conditions has been a huge advantage for the team.

Team India stormed into the final of Champions Trophy 2025 after beating Australia in an exciting semi-final held at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Despite Pakistan being the host of the tournament, India played all their games in Dubai after refusing to travel to the host country citing security reasons. Hence, critics believe that the venue familiarity has been an advantage for the men in blue.

Mohammed Shami weighs in on ‘Dubai Pitch’ controversy

Speaking after India’s four-wicket victory over Australia in the semi-final, Shami admitted that this familiarity with conditions played a crucial role in India's campaign.

"It has definitely helped us because we know the conditions and the behaviour of the pitch. The main thing is to gauge the conditions and know how the pitch behaves because you are playing at one venue, and you can get to know it well," Shami stated.

Earlier, skipper Rohit Sharma and head coach Gautam Gambhir had brushed aside the contention that the team had acquired an unfair advantage.

However, Shami had a different opinion after winning the semi-final against Australia.

Shami opens up on carrying the load of India’s pace attack

With Jasprit Bumrah missing the tournament due to injury, Mohammed Shami has been the leader of India's pace attack.

He has taken on extra responsibility alongside young Harshit Rana and all-rounder Hardik Pandya. Despite carrying a heavy workload, he has remained confident in his ability to deliver under pressure.

“There is a load when you are the one main fast bowler, and the other is an all-rounder. You have to pick wickets and lead from the front. I have become used to this load and am trying my best to make it easy for others and give more than 100 per cent," he added.

India will face New Zealand in the ultimate final of Champions Trophy 2025 on March 9, 2025, at Dubai Cricket Stadium.
