Rajat Patidar was at the helm of RCB in 2025 and broke the 18-year-old curse of the franchise to lift its maiden trophy. Virat Kohli, the stalwart and the ex-captain of RCB, played a huge part behind Patidar's success as ahead of the season, fans expected Kohli to lead as captain and in a shock decision, Patidar was appointed the official skipper of the franchise.

Mo Bobat Reveals Virat Kohli Blessed Patidar!

Recently, Mo Bobat, the Director of RCB shared how Virat Kohli was a strong pillar behind the appointment of Rajat Patidar as RCB captain. Speaking to Cricbuzz, Bobat shared his conversation with Kohli:

"We spoke with Virat Kohli that Patidar was going to be the new captain and Virat said, '100% I'm there to help. It's in all of our interests if Rajat succeeds. Let's give this a go'. It was brilliant to have Virat's blessing and his approval," Bobat revealed.

Needless to say, Virat Kohli was also a pillar with the bat in the maiden season win of the red and gold jerseys. In 15 matches, Kohli made 657 runs at an average of 54.75 to finish as one of the highest scorers for the franchise.

Patidar Dedicated Maiden Win To Kohli

On the night of the historic win, Rajat Patidar didn't step back while crediting Kohli for the win and dedicating the trophy to him and the fans. "As I said. I don't think anyone else deserves this as much as he (Virat Kohli) does. This is for all the fans," Patidar told reporters on the eve of IPL 2025 final.

RCB managed to clinch the final by 6 runs under the guidance of Patidar as heartbroken Punjab Kings fell just short of their maiden title too. While Kohli top-scored for his team with 43 in the match, Krunal Pandya was the pick of the players with his memorable 2/17 that turned the tide of the match.
