Shakib Al Hasan, Bangladesh's star all-rounder, recently paid tribute to his long time teammate Mushfiqur Rahim, who is currently playing his 100th Test of his career at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

An emotional Shakib Al Hasan penned a memorable tribute to laud his friend as he promised to watch every ball he faces in the historic Test. Notably, Rahim is also the first Bangladeshi player ever to play 100 Test matches for his team.

Shakib Al Hasan writes heartfelt letter to old friend

Taking to his official social media handles, Shakib Al Hasan wrote a heartfelt note where he recalled the old days when they first played together in Lords. Shakib was expressive about Mushfiqur being an inspiration for him as well as many youngsters since the day he lifted his bat.

"I remember when you played your 1st test match in Lords; I watched every ball from the recreation room in BKSP. From that day on you inspired me and countless cricketers in Bangladesh and beyond. You have been playing for a while, and you have given your best to your game. From the time you were leading the age-level team, I saw you as my captain, and till now and forever I play cricket, you will be my captain," Shakib wrote.

Shakib makes worthy promise

Shakib Al Hasan then went on to congratulate Mushfiqur Rahim on his historic feat as he made a promise of watching the Bangladesh veteran play every ball in the 2nd Test vs. Ireland at Dhaka, as he is slated to come in at No. 5.

"Mushfiq bhai, on this auspicious moment, I wish you all the best for your 100th test match, a historic feat for any cricketer. Just like I watched your first match, I will watch every ball you face on your 100th test match. I hope you enjoy this match, and I wish I played it with you and celebrated your glory on the field," Shakib added.

Shakib Al Hasan himself drew an end to his Test career back in 2024 and has retired from T20I cricket and is currently out of Bangladesh's mix of things for other international formats. However, he continues to play league cricket across the world with his all-round prowess at 38.
