South African batter Rassie van der Dussen eagerly anticipates the challenge of facing India in their upcoming match at the 2023 World Cup at the Eden Gardens on Sunday (November 5). He expressed his confidence in South Africa's readiness to take on the "experienced Indian team."

South Africa's impressive performance, including a resounding 190-run victory over New Zealand at the MCA Stadium in Pune, allowed them to surpass India and reclaim the top spot on the 2023 ODI World Cup points table.

This victory puts them closer to securing a spot in the semi-finals. Quinton de Kock and Van der Dussen both scored magnificent centuries, propelling South Africa to a substantial total of 357 runs, while their bowlers dominated, restricting the Black Caps to a mere 167 runs in their run-chase.

Although the match was expected to be a close contest, South Africa's performance with both bat and ball made it a one-sided affair.

Reflecting on their next challenge against India, Rassie emphasized South Africa's preparedness for the encounter. He acknowledged that playing India on their home turf is a significant event and praised the Indian team's well-rounded lineup.

"Definitely (If his team is prepared for team India). I think what we've done really well is in this campaign is we're really just focusing on what we want to do and how we want to play it," Van der Dussen said in the press-conference.

"Obviously, playing India in India is a massive event. They've been playing really well. A lot of experience in their team. They've got all bases covered, brilliant bowling attack and obviously the batting as well. But again, like I said, we'll go into that game knowing that if we do the things well that we want to do, we'll be in a really strong position," said Rassie van der Dussen.

South Africa are set to face India in a top-of-the-table clash at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on November 5.

In recent ODI encounters, the Proteas have had the upper hand, winning four of their last six meetings with Team India, including a 3-0 series sweep at home in 2022. However, India secured a 2-1 series win in their most recent clash at home last year.
