Ravichandran Ashwin, the Indian ace spinner, recently gained attention for his inclusion in the three-match series against Australia, where India won 2-1. India has added Ravichandran Ashwin to the World Cup 2023 squad, replacing injured Axar Patel, who sustained a left quadriceps strain during the Asia Cup encounter against Bangladesh, casting doubts on his World Cup participation.

Ashwin's performance in the Australia series, where he took four wickets, including 3 for 41 in the second match in Indore, received support from Indian captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid, highlighting his experience's significance in the prestigious event.

Ahead of the warm-up match against England, Ashwin thanked Rohit Sharma and the team management for backing him and stated that life is all about surprises.

Here's what he said:

"I would have said that you are joking (If asked about his World Cup inclusion five months back). Life is all about surprises, but the Captain Rohit Sharma and team management has shown trust in me and backed me to be in the World Cup squad," Ashwin said ahead of the England match.

Notably, Ashwin has played only four ODIs for India since 2017 and was omitted from the last 50-over World Cup in 2019.
