A few days back, Hashim Amla, the South Africa great, in the Beard Before Wicket podcast, picked his all time Test XI leaving out his 'rival' and at-par contemporary cricketer Virat Kohli. Amla picked other Indian greats like Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid to pair with AB de Villiers as he snubbed England great Joe Root too.

Notably, Hashim Amla snubbed himself out of the list too despite having an impressive 9,282 runs from 124 Test matches he played in his well-decorated career. Amla also carefully chose inactive players who have retired from cricket to feature in the list.

Hashim picks only two Indian greats in all-time Test XI

Speaking at the Beard Before Wicket podcast, Amla started off with Australia great Matthew Hayden and Proteas legend Graeme Smith, followed by India's 'Wall' Rahul Dravid.

Smith has 9225 runs in the format, while Matthew Hayden boasts 8625 runs. Rahul Dravid, meanwhile, boasts 13,288 runs in Test cricket from 184 innings. Sachin Tendulkar followed Dravid in the list. The God of Cricket, who still boasts the highest Test scores as a cricketer with his 15,921 runs.

Australia's famous captain Ricky Ponting and Proteas all-rounder star Jacques Kallis followed, with AB de Villiers also getting a mention in the list. Notably, Kallis, being the greatest all-rounder in the game, boasts 13289 runs and 292 wickets in the format.

On the bowling front, alongside Kallis, Muttiah Muralitharan, Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath, and Dale Steyn stand the lineup, with each bowler having legendary status in the modern era.

Moreover, Amla's all-time Test XI consists of 4 Australian greats, 4 Proteas greats and two Indian legends alongside the Sri Lankan spin great.
