After two years, the thrills of the T20 World Cup are returning, and Indian fans are buzzing with excitement as the tournament returns to home soil. With just a few days left for the tournament, a new drama ignited as the international turmoil between India and Bangladesh made a solid impact on the cricketing arena.

The drama ignited more as the Bangladesh Cricket Board formally requested the ICC to shift their T20 World Cup venue from India, citing security concerns. As the conclusion is yet to come, the proposal sparked a global debate. Recently, former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh was asked about his view on this topic.

Speaking to ANI, the star bowler said India will welcome everyone with open arms, but ultimately, it’s up to Bangladesh to decide whether they step onto Indian soil. He said, “Due to the various events that have taken place in the past few days, Bangladesh does not want to come to India. Whatever happened in Bangladesh is wrong. ICC needs to make a decision on their request. We welcome everyone to India, but whether they (Bangladesh) want to come here or not is their choice.”

New rivalry sparks as T20 World Cup dates could shift

Over the years, the cricket world has seen the classic India-Pakistan rivalry, and another rivalry is on the way. Being neighbours to a future rival, the international turmoil affected India-Bangladesh’s cricketing relationship. When Bangladesh decided to shift their T20 World Cup matches from India, the drama escalated to a whole new level.

Along with India, Sri Lanka is also hosting the T20 World Cup 2026, as Pakistan will play all their matches in Colombo. If ICC grants Bangladesh’s request, the entire schedule might get rescheduled. With the final call still pending, fans are waiting to see how the drama unfolds.
