'Few Concerns...,' Zaheer Khan Reveals Problems For India Ahead Of 3rd Test vs ENG

After losing the series opener, India have managed to bounce back in the 2nd Test. The Rohit Sharma-led team managed to seal a 106 run win on the fourth day to level the series 1-1. With three more matches to go, there is still a lot be played for in this India vs England 5 match Test series.

While the hosts did manage to level the series with a win in Vizag, former India speedster Zaheer Khan has raised concerns about India's batting. The pitch in the 2nd Test was relatively easier to bat on and despite that majority of the Indian batters struggled.

Apart from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill, no other batter managed to make the best out of the conditions and score big. There wasn't much help from the pitch in the initial days and Jaiswal made the best use of it as he went on to score a double ton. While things did get difficult in the second innings, Gill went through the grind and brought up a hard fought ton to help his team setup a target that was beyond England's reach.

While talking on Match Centre Live after the end of the 2nd Test, India's World Cup winning pacer analysed India's batting performances. Khan said:

"There are a few concerns when you look at the team - batting is something that they will be talking about because under these conditions, on this sort of a surface, we have seen India do better. You look at England's second innings, there is only one half-century and they still managed to get close to 300. That is what collective effort can do. We have seen two brilliant innings - Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill, but with the bat, there is a lot of work to be done."

Despite exceptional individual efforts, India were not able to bat England out of the Test because collectively the hosts were not good enough. Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer got stars in both innings, Iyer looked well set despite that neither of them could convert.

Team India will have to address this issue as soon as possible because the visitors will surely challenge them right until the end. And, in order to win the series, the hosts will have to be at their best.
