'Doesn't Call Me Papa...': Shoaib Malik On Son Izhaan After Divorce From Sania Mirza

Former Pakistan star, Shoaib Malik recently opened up on the bond he shares with his son, Izhaan Mirza Malik, after divorce from wife, Sania Mirza. The cricketer stated that he is fulfilling all his responsibilities of a good father despite the divorce. The couple got divorced in January 2024 and ended their 14-year marriage on a sorrow note.

After the separation, Izhaan Mirza Malik lives with his mother, Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik often gets criticised for not being around with his son as the cricketer moved ahead in his life and married Pakistan actress, Sana Javed.

Speaking up on his relation with his son, Shoaib Malik stated that his relation with Izhaan is more like friends rather than a father-son relationship.

"The relationship I share with him is one of friendship. He calls me bro, and sometimes I also call him bro. I make sure to visit him twice a month in Dubai, and while I'm there, I personally drop him to school and pick him up," Shoaib spoke in a podcast.

"I have a very strong bond with him. Every day we connect on a video call and discuss everything," he added.

Shoaib-Sania Mirza ended 14-year long marriage

Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik got married in 2010 and their marriage was a subject of controversy due to their different nationalities.

After marriage, the duo decided to shift their base to Dubai and had a happy relationship before it ended in 2024. Despite everything, the duo continue to prioritize individual and personal lives with utmost ease.
