Ravi Shastri was at his humorous best in commentary on Day 1 of the Rajkot Test between India and England and made a funny remark on premier allrounder Ravindra Jadeja's towering numbers at the just renamed Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium in Saurashtra.

Shastri said even Sir Donald Bradman, who finished his Test career with an unparalleled average of 99.94, would look up from the heavens with envy towards Jadeja's astonishing record and average at his home ground in Rajkot.

Producing an exceptional century after walking in deep strife with India placed 33 for 3 on the first morning, Jadeja managed to elevate his first-class average at the stadium to a jaw-dropping 135 on Thursday (February 15) before going off unbeaten and being dismissed the next morning on 112.

Shastri's Funny Bradman Reference On Jadeja

Once the BCCI production team displayed a graphic containing Jadeja's numbers at the Rajkot stadium, Shastri brought his funny avatar to the fore and said even Don Bradman would watch in envy of the man's stellar numbers at the venue.

"Look at that average. He (Ravindra Jadeja) could make even Don Bradman look from the above," Shastri said on air while triggering a laugh around the commentary box and among the viewers as the graphic showed Jadeja stretching his average well over 130 at the ground renowned for good batting conditions.

Notably, it was Jadeja's second Test century in Rajkot after producing his first three-figure milestone in Tests for India at the venue against the West Indies in the first Test of the 2018 home series.

In 17 first-class matches played at the ground, the Saurashtra lad has made well over 1,500 runs with four centuries, including his highest first-class score of 331, plus five half-centuries.
