On Thursday, Indian captain Rohit Sharma will be returning to domestic cricket after over a decade as he set to play in Mumbai's clash against Jammu and Kashmir in the upcoming Ranji Trophy tournament. He will be joined by youngster and India's fellow Test opener Yashasvi Jaiswal according to the 17-member squad released.
This means that a significant crowd turnout will be expected on the match day at Mumbai Cricket Association’s BKC facility. In order to ensure that everything runs smoothly without any hiccups, the MCA announced additional security has been arranged for Rohit along with which the stadium capacity has also been increased to accommodate more people.
"Additional security has been arranged and we have also increased the sitting capacity of fans up to 500," a MCA official was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
Mumbai Awaits The Return Of Rohit Sharma
Earlier, only up to 500 people could be seated at the venue where Mumbai has been regularly playing its league games in the Ranji Trophy. However, now more seating has been arranged to ensure fans can witness the return of Mumbai's King, Rohit Sharma.
Defending champions Mumbai will begin the second leg of the Ranji Trophy at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy in BKC against Jammu and Kashmir. Moreover, Mumbai are placed third behind table-leaders Baroda and second-placed J&K in Elite Group A.
