Suryakumar Yadav, the former No. 1 T20I batter, has expressed a strong desire to make his mark across all formats of the game. Despite his stellar performances in T20Is, Yadav's Test career has been limited to just one match—the 2023 Border-Gavaskar Trophy debut against Australia.

In that debut, played on February 9, 2023, at Nagpur, Yadav scored 8 runs before being dismissed by Nathan Lyon. His limited opportunity in the Test arena has left fans and critics curious about what he might bring if given a sustained chance.

Domestic Performances and Future Prospects

The 33-year-old's first-class record is solid, though not exceptional, with 82 matches, 5628 runs at an average of 43.62, including 14 centuries and 29 half-centuries.

This experience, combined with his aggressive batting style, suggests that he could add significant dynamism and depth to the Indian Test team.

His approach could inject a new level of aggression into the middle order, complementing other aggressive players like Rishabh Pant.

Currently, Suryakumar is focusing on domestic cricket, including the Buchi Babu tournament, as he aims to refine his skills for the red-ball format. With no T20Is scheduled until October, Yadav has a valuable window to showcase his capabilities in Test cricket.

Following Buchi Babu, he will participate in the Duleep Trophy, which could serve as a crucial platform to push for a Test comeback.

If Suryakumar succeeds in the domestic circuit, it could provide India with a versatile match-winner in the longest format. His inclusion would offer flexibility and aggressive options, potentially transforming the team's approach in Test matches.
