The contest between India and England has always been entertaining, whether in England or India. While it is believed that the games in India don't last longer and the fans do not get to see teams posting mammoth totals, there have been some games where a truckload of runs have been scored.

Back in 2016, the team India were all over England and went on to smash 759 runs in an innings. This was one of the unforgettable Tests in Indian cricket history, as Karun Nair went on to smash a triple hundred and that too against the fierce England bowling line-up. Not to forget that this was only his third innings of his Test and he went on to register his name for the world record. 

Along with Karun Nair's triple century, KL Rahul also went on to score 199 runs before getting out against Adil Rashid. With their daddy individual performances and fifties from Parthiv Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, India went on to post 759 runs in their first innings and helped the team win the game by an innings and 75 runs.

In the year 2011, England hosted an all-format tour for the Indian team including the four Tests. After winning the first two Tests, the hosts were in the driver's seat and entered the third game with a sense of fierceness, scoring 710 runs in their first innings, taking a mammoth lead of 486 runs. This total comes second on the list of encounters between India and England in the history of Test cricket. 

Sir Alastair Cook went on to make the most of the contribution with his impeccable knock of 294 runs and missed out on the well-deserving triple century. Eoin Morgan chipped in with a hundred as well along with Strauss's 87, Pietersen's 63 and Bresnan's 53, which eventually helped the Englishmen record a huge win by an innings and 242 runs.

Team India had a memorable time in England in 2007 and went on to win a Test series in England, which is among the toughest conditions to play Test cricket. The first game ended in a draw, while the second one was won by the Indian team. It all came down to the third and last Test, where England had a chance to level the series or India had a chance to create history. 

In the first innings, five half-centuries were scored by the Indian batters and Anil Kumble went on to hammer a hundred in Oval. With everybody chipping in with contributions, India recorded their highest total in England. Eventually, by posting a target of 500 runs, India went on to take six wickets of England and the game ended in a draw, with India sealing the series by 1-0.

One of the iconic Tests between India and England was the first Test of the three-match series in 1990. The home of cricket, Lord's hosted the first match and the English opener Graham Gooch was playing a different brand of cricket. In the first innings, he went on to hammer down 333 runs and helped England register a huge first-innings total of 653 runs. 

He did not stop there as he went on to pick one wicket and scored a ton in the second innings as well. With the batting dominantiona and a massive first innings lead, England emerged as the winners claiming the victory by 247 runs.

India have always been tougher for the overseas players in the longest format of the game. But in 1985, England outplayed the Indian team by winning the Test series by 2-1. After being one down in the five-match series, England made an amazing comeback and went on to win two games, while the other two ended in a draw. 

In the fourth Test, while batting second with a trail of just 272 runs, England went on to post a huge total in Chennai, scoring 652. With a massive lead of 380 runs, England were in a commendable position and got a target of just 33 runs. With this win England took a lead in the series with one match to spare.
