The Warner Park in St. Kitts was essentially a launchpad for a ballistic missile named Tim David. His astonishing stand for a record-shattering chase of 215 rocketed him straight into the elite stratosphere of T20I batting. David rewrote history, matching the second-fastest century ever recorded in men's T20Is involving full-member nations.

David's feat places him shoulder-to-shoulder with the most explosive hitters the format has ever seen. While the absolute pinnacle remains shared by two legends, let's take a look at where David placed himself amidst the elite list of cricketers.

4. Sanju Samson - 40 balls

Starting off the list, on October 12, 2024, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, Sanju Samson produced one of the most breathtaking T20I innings in recent memory, smashing a 40-ball century against Bangladesh in the 3rd T20I. Walking in after an early wicket, Samson took charge from the outset. He reached his hundred in just 40 balls, becoming one of the fastest Indian batters to achieve the landmark in T20Is. His knock was laced with 11 boundaries and 8 massive sixes to stun the Bangladesh players.

Samson's final score of 111 off 47 balls powered India to a record-breaking total of 297/6 in their 20 overs. The wicketkeeper-batter not only laid the foundation but accelerated at a fierce pace through the middle overs, dominating every bowler he faced.

3. Johnson Charles - 39 balls

West Indies opener Johnson Charles lit up Centurion with a blistering century off just 39 balls, smashing one of the fastest hundreds in T20I history during the second T20I against South Africa on March 26, 2023. His knock powered West Indies to a massive 258/5, their highest total in T20Is. Charles, who walked in after an early dismissal, went on a rampage, hitting 10 fours and 11 sixes en route to 118 off 46 balls.

Despite Charles’ brilliance, the West Indies couldn’t defend the total as Quinton de Kock (100 off 44) and Reeza Hendricks (68 off 28) spearheaded a historic chase. South Africa overhauled the 259-run target in just 18.5 overs, sealing a six-wicket win with seven balls to spare in a record-breaking thriller.

2. Tim David and Abhishek Sharma - 37 balls

For this one, India's T20 star Abhishek Sharma and Tim David both hold second place in the elite list. David's hurricane shredded the West Indies to pieces as he reached his century in just 37 balls on July 26, 2025, at Warner Park. After Australia fell into a precarious 87/4 while chasing a mammoth 215, David's heroics swept the Windies off for a blitzkrieg as he turned the tide for the visiting side.

For Abhishek, on February 2, 2025, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the SRH star lit up the night with a blistering 37-ball century, one of the fastest in T20I history. Opening the innings for India in the fifth T20I against England, the left-hander launched a fierce assault, hammering 13 sixes and 7 fours on his way to a breathtaking 135 off just 54 balls. His whirlwind knock powered India to a massive total of 247/9, setting the stage for a dominant 150-run win.

1. Rohit Sharma and David Miller - 35 balls

Topping the list, Rohit Sharma and David Miller are the joint fastest to score a T20I hundred in international cricket. On December 22, 2017, at the Holkar Stadium in Indore, Rohit Sharma delivered one of the most explosive T20I innings in history, smashing the record against Sri Lanka. Rohit hammered 118 runs off just 43 balls, setting the tone for India’s mammoth total of 260/5, which helped India crush Sri Lanka by 88 runs in the match.

As of Miller, on October 29, 2017, at Potchefstroom, the Proteas power produced one of the most destructive innings in T20I history, smashing a blistering 101* off just 36 balls against Bangladesh. Walking in with South Africa at 78/3, Miller unleashed a ferocious assault, reaching his century in just 35 deliveries. His knock included 7 fours and 9 towering sixes, propelling South Africa to a mammoth total of 224/4, which sealed an 83-run win for the hosts.
