After scoring his maiden Test hundred on debut in Chattogram on Saturday, December 17, Bangladesh opening batter Zakir Hasan was delighted with his effort and revealed that Indian head coach Rahul Dravid and star batter Virat Kohli congratulated him after the end of the day's play.

Debutant Zakir Hasan played a gritty knock to bring up a century in his first Test and become the fourth Bangladeshi batter after Aminul Islam, Mohammad Ashraful, and Abul Hasan to score a hundred on debut.

Zakir is also only the second opener with a fourth-innings hundred on debut. The left-handed batter scored 100 runs off 224 balls, including 12 fours and 1 six. He looked solid in the first innings as well but could only manage 20 runs in his first outing with the bat.

After reaching the three-figure mark, Zakir scored no more runs and fell for 100 in the final session when Ravichandran Ashwin made him his only wicket so far in the Test. Virat Kohli took a sharp catch in the first slip. While Zakir was walking back towards the pavilion, Kohli congratulated the youngster for his brilliant knock in the fourth innings.

In the press conference, Zakir said that Kohli and Dravid congratulated him for his maiden ton. He also spoke about the difficulties of facing Axar Patel.

"Virat Kohli congratulated me after the hundred, Rahul Dravid sir too appreciated my efforts that was very special. Very happy to score my first Test Hundred, facing Axar was the most difficult phase," said Zakir Khan.

At Stumps on Day 4, the hosts are trailing by 241 runs with four wickets in hand as they are chasing a mammoth target of 513 for an unlikely victory.
