The Gujarat Giants franchise have had a poor start to their Women's Premier League (WPL) 2023 campaign, losing two consecutive matches. The Giants displayed appalling cricket against Mumbai Indians but looked like a different side in their narrow loss to UP Warriorz.

Former India skipper Mithali Raj, mentor of the Adani-owned side, said that the players have all the skills to rise to the pressure and not sink in.

Gujarat suffered a blow in their tournament opener, losing skipper Beth Mooney to an injury midgame. She remains a doubtful starter for their remaining games, with Sneh Rana leading the side in the second match.

Speaking to News 18, Raj also opened up on her support staff role while lauding Rana's leadership skills.

Here's what Raj said

"Honestly saying, a team which has lost the first two games, they definitely will be looking for a win. I would not say that, we don’t have a pressure and all that, it’ll be there because we lost the first two games,

"But then that pressure is not going to sink us we are going to use that pressure to play brave cricket. There are still games to come. We are always looking to create an opportunity so that we can, that is the outlook that we are using right now."

The Giants will next be up against an under-firing Royal Challengers Bangalore, who are also looking for their first win.
