Dubai Capitals rope in Robin Uthappa for inaugural season of ILT20: Reports

In a significant development former India opener, Robin Uthappa has reportedly signed with Dubai Capitals ahead of the inaugural International League T20 (ILT20).

The ILT20 2023 will be played from January 13 to February 12 in UAE.

A former World Cup winner, Robin Uthappa recently announced his retirement from all forms of Indian cricket, and will now look to replicate his success in the middle-east nation.

The 37-year-old played last two IPL seasons with Chennai Super Kings, winning the coveted trophy on one occasion. The ILT20 was scheduled to be organised in January 2022, however it was eventually postponed to next year.

Apart from Uthappa, the likes of Kieron Pollard, Dasun Shanaka, Eoin Morgan, Wanindu Hasaranga are some of the big players to feature in the inaugural edition.

The general secretary of the Emirates Cricket Board, Mubashshir Usmani expressed his delight stating:

"This is a very exciting time for the league, and, collectively, we are delighted to announce the 2023 ILT20 playing schedule. To have superstars such as Dubai Capitals's Dasun Shanaka, and Abu Dhabi Knight Rider's Andre Russell open their teams' accounts is very exciting."
