Nathan Smith, a pace bowler from New Zealand, had a dream debut moment in the ongoing Test match against England at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch. The 26-year-old made headlines by dismissing Joe Root for a duck, marking a fantastic start to his career.

Smith’s first breakthrough came when he removed Jacob Bethell for just 10 runs. Then, in the same over, he bowled the England's premier Test batter, Root out on the fourth ball, ending with impressive figures of 2-12 during England's first innings before the break.

Wellington all-rounder first made his mark in the 2015-16 Plunket Shield season while playing for Otago. Over 53 first-class matches, he has taken 144 wickets at an average of 25.85.

As a capable all-rounder, Smith has also contributed with the bat, scoring 1,919 runs, including one century and 13 fifties. His skills have been valuable in New Zealand's domestic circuit and the English County Championship, where he played for Worcestershire.
