The unique occurrence in 2017 marked the debut of the National Security Guard (NSG) Commandos, popularly known as the Black Cat Commandos, in the Republic Day parade. They marched alongside the armed forces, saluting the national flag and the President, momentarily taking the place of the Para commandos.

Dhoni, having undergone training with the Parachute regiment of the elite Para Brigade of the Indian army, couldn't witness his uniformed partners in action during that memorable event.

Fast forward to the present year, 2024, MS Dhoni has bid farewell to all forms of international cricket but continues to be a stalwart in the cricketing world. Currently preparing for IPL 2024, Dhoni continues to be in the leadership role as captain for the Chennai Super Kings.
