Mohammed Shami is known for his spicy bowling and ability to run through best of the batting line-ups across formats. However, he is a handy batter too which he has displayed in international as well as in domestic cricket, and now against Chandigarh in a knockout game of SMAT 2024, he blasted unbeaten 32 off 17 balls.
It brought back memories of the 2021 Test against England in Lord's where he smashed unbeaten 56 off 70 balls and played a big role in India's historic news. He hit six fours and one six in his knock and the six he hit took him to fifty which went 92 metres away, creating a great buzz around the iconic Lord's stadium.
Shami's Maiden Fifty In India's Historic Lord's Win
India were 276 for eight at that time and his partnership with Jasprit Bumrah when India were 209 for eight changed the momentum of the game. The six he hit was against Moeen Ali as Shami danced down the track to blast it over deep mid-wicket.
India eventually won the game by 151 runs as England were bowled out for just 120 in the final innings. The knock displayed his utility as a cricketer and his ability to show the fight unde pressure.
India's win in Lord's set the stage for a superb performance from Virat Kohli's men and the visitors were enroute to a historic Test series win in England before Covid spoiled India's momentum.
