Out of favour Indian wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha had a successful Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season with champions Gujarat Titans, shutting down his critics.

Saha partnered with Shubman Gill for the first time, as both provided the Titans with swift starts throughout the season.

Saha and Gill are yet to fire as a pair, but the latter has been in terrific form in the past few months, slamming double-hundred and hundreds for fun. Saha, who has so far failed to seize his starts in IPL 2023, has credited Gill for his success as an opener in T20 cricket.

Interestingly, Saha is the third Indian batter after Virender Sehwag and Prithvi Shaw to score 1,000 or more runs in the IPL powerplay.

As quoted by India Today, the former West Bengal keeper explained that Gill scoring runs upfront, batting for himself, Vijay Shankar and Sai Sudharsan becomes easier.

Here's what Saha said

"Shubman is in the form of his life. It is so easy batting with him. We know that if Gujarat Titans have to do well, myself, Shubman and Sai (Sudharsan) at No 3 have to bat well. Then it becomes easier for the team,

"But when Shubman is around, I can play my natural game with ease. As Shubman scores upfront, it becomes easier for batters like me, Sai and Vijay. The approach becomes much easier at the other end."

Saha further dwelled on his batting approach, where the opener has been provided with complete freedom by the Gujarat Titans' management consisting of Gary Kirsten, Vikram Solanki and Ashish Nehra.

The Hardik Pandya-led side will take on the Kolkata Knight Riders tomorrow in Ahmedabad, with hopes of notching their third successive win.
