During the 2020 U19 World Cup finals, Bangladesh U19 beat India U19 by 3 wickets to clinch their maiden U19 title. Despite Yashasvi Jaiswal's gritty 88 off 121 balls, India collapsed to 177. Bangladesh, meanwhile, chased 170 DLS total with 23 balls to spare to upset the tournament favourites.

Bangladesh and India, arch Asian rivals, were pitted against each other for the final of the U19 Cricket World Cup 2020 edition. The men in blue, four time champions, were favourites since Bangladesh were playing their first finals in the 22-year-long history of the tournament.

Having been asked to bat first, India choked under pressure and were restricted to a modest 177 in 47.2 overs. Despite a valiant 88 off 121 balls knock by promising opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and a handy 38 off 65 from Tilak Varma, India suffered a stunning collapse, losing their last seven wickets for just 21 runs. The Bangladesh bowlers, led by Avishek Das (3/40) and Tanzim Hasan Sakib (2/28), tore through the middle and lower order to put up the game.

In reply, Bangladesh faced early jitters, losing wickets at regular intervals. But skipper Akbar Ali kept the chase calm and steady with an unbeaten 43 off 77 balls, while Mohammed Parvez Hossain added 47 off 79 balls.

India's stand-out bowler in the tournament was Ravi Bishnoi, who once again impressed with figures of 4/30 to keep India in the contest till the end. Amid rain interruptions, Bangladesh maintained their composure, chasing the revised target of 170 with 23 balls to spare.

Celebrations erupted at Potchefstroom as Akbar Ali lifted the trophy, which marked a historic moment for Bangladesh cricket. The player of the match, Ali, gave the credit to two years of hard work while the skipper of India, Priyam Garg, acknowledged the efforts his team put in through the tournament.

Regardless, India found a gem in Yashasvi Jaiswal. The young lad progressed from being a debutant to being India's reliable and consistent Test opener.
