South Africa women's team are set to face their toughest challenge till date, when they collide against Meg Lanning's Australia in the finals of the Women's T20 World Cup on Sunday.

The hosts, South Africa suffered a shock defeat in the tournament opener at the hands of Sri Lanka, and were defeated by Australia in the group stages. But crucial wins over New Zealand and Bangladesh sealed their place in the semis.

A win over England in the all-important semi final sealed their place in the grand finale. Sune Luus' side became the first South African team -men's or women's to enter a World Cup finals.

"I think obviously being in the final, I don't think we can do much more to show the country that women - that we are serious about women's cricket in this country. Obviously winning the final would be the ultimate cherry on the top.

But I think just to get into the final for us, I don't think the country needs more encouragement than that."

“I think there's a lot of good things that's already come out of this World Cup in this country. I think if you don't take women's cricket seriously now, then I guess there's no hope for whoever you are," Luus added.

Talking about the semi-final match against England women, South Africa posted 164 on the board, which proved to be a bit too much for the former champions, as England crumbled under pressure and lost the match by 6 runs.
