WBBL | Sydney Thunder appoint Lisa Keightley as new head coach

Women's Big Bash League franchise Sydney Thunder have announced the signing of former Australian cricketer Lisa Keightley as their new head coach. 

Keightley takes over from Trevor Griffin, who guided the side to a WBBL title in the 2020-21 season. her appointment will last for three years.

In her statement, the 51-year-old expressed her desire to create a unique brand of cricket with the Thunder. 

"I am looking forward to connecting with the players, especially the Sydney-based ones to make sure when we go into that competition it doesn't feel new. I'm looking forward to helping them and discussing their games and where they'd like to be. I want to share my observations of how they're playing, and maybe, the areas where they can grow, learn and stretch."

Keightley played nine Tests, 82 ODIs, and one T20I Australia. She has previously worked with both Australia and England Women as head coach. 

Apart from the international sides, she had coaching stints with New South Wales, Western Australia, and WBBL side Perth Scorchers.
