South African all-rounder Wayne Parnell labelled India's Suryakumar Yadav as one of the best T20 batters in the world ahead of the second T20I in Guwahati.

Suryakumar Yadav continued his purple patch with the bat for the Men in Blue in T20Is on Wednesday (September 28). Playing against South Africa, he slammed an unbeaten 50 off 33 balls at a blistering strike rate of 151.5 in the first T20I of the three-match series in Thiruvananthapuram. The match-winning knock included three sixes and five fours.

Having started the series on a high, Suryakumar will certainly pose a real threat to the Proteas in the next match starting tomorrow at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium.

Addressing the media on the eve of the second T20I, Parnell heaped praise on Surya and called him one of the best T20 batters going around in the world right now.

“I think personally, from what I’ve watched over the last couple of months, I think he is probably one of the best T20 betters at the moment,” Wayne Parnell said in a pre-match press conference.

I’ve really enjoyed watching SKY: Parnell

Parnell, who has been impressed with the 360 gameplay of Suryakumar, said that the dynamic middle-order batter is a very difficult batter to contain and also admitted that he loves watching the Mumbai-based batter go about his business.

“He scores 360, which is very difficult for bowlers to try and defend. I think it’s just about being strong and trying to take each ball as it sort of comes. You know, he’s allowed to play good shots.

I think the other night, he played some really, really beautiful shots, but it was a lucky day. And maybe, you know, a different night that goes to hand. But having said that, I think you know, he’s certainly been a guy that I’ve really enjoyed watching over the last couple of months. He’s certainly playing really good cricket,” Parnell added.
