Young Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Ruturaj Gaikwad has expressed his eagerness to turn up for the MS Dhoni-led aide at the Chepauk in the IPL 2023.

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has already confirmed that the IPL will shift back to the home and away format from next season. This means that Gaikwad will play at CSK's home base in Chennai for the very first time in the yellow jersey.

In a video shared by the Chennai-based franchise, Gaikwad spoke about the kind of atmosphere that he has experienced while practicing at Chepauk and how keen he is to feature for the side in their first home game since 2019.

"I had seen the atmosphere, I had seen the electrifying noise. I have experienced everything. So, obviously that was going on in mind when I would practise for two days (India A in Chennai). I was imagining the crowd and CSK entering the stadium. So actually, I am just waiting for the moment."

Gaikwad was roped in by CSK at the IPL 2019 auction for INR 20 lakh. While the right-hander didn’t get an opportunity in 2019, he scored 204 runs in 6 matches in the 2020 season.

However, his breakthrough year came in 2021, as he finished as the highest run-getter of the IPL with 635 runs in 16 matches, including a stunning hundred. As a result, he was retained by the franchise ahead of the 2022 edition of IPL for INR 6 crore.
