The first One-Day International (ODI) between hosts New Zealand and India witnessed a field day for the visiting batters at Eden Park. While stand-in skipper Shikhar Dhawan, Shubman Gill, and Shreyas Iyer scored in the fifties, all-rounder Washington Sundar's sublime blitz at the end helped India breach the 300-run mark.

Sundar demolished the Kiwi's attack scoring 37* off just 16 balls, which included three fours and as many sixes.

Speaking about his knock during the innings break, Sundar revealed that he laid importance on timing rather than just power.

"All the work I put in worked today. There is some program that needs to be done before the ball is bowled, but there are instincts too... It's very important to get the timing right, despite the power,”

When asked about total India achieved 306 for 7, the left-handed batter said it was a par score and asked for a disciplined bowling effort.

“It's a par score,"

At the time of publishing, the Black Caps are 134 for 3 in 28 overs, with Tom Latham and Kane Williamson batting in the middle.
