Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has been one of the most consistent performers in One-Day Internationals and T20Is over the past few years for the national side. However, former

Pakistan former captain Shahid Afridi reckons that Azam is yet to prove himself as a match-winner, despite currently being one of the best in the business.

Azam, who leads Peshawar Zalmi in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023 has often been criticised for his strike rate and inability to push on after starts.

The 28-year-old is currently the fifth-highest run-getter in PSL 8, with 178 runs.

As per Cricket Pakistan, Afridi also explained why Azam is not yet considered in the category of AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli.

Here's what Afridi said

"Babar Azam has not yet proved himself as a match-winner. No doubt Babar is the number one player in the world, and he is the pride of the Pakistan cricket team, but one thing that stops him from being named aside AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli is finishing. I want Babar to finish the game all by himself."

Azam will be in action tomorrow when his men take on Karachi Kings in Multan. The last time these two teams met, Zalmi won the encounter by a mere two-run margin.

Kings captained by Imad Wasim are fourth in the points table, while Zalmi below them at five.
