Essex skipper Tom Westley has signed a three-year contract extension that will prolong his stay with the club until at least the end of the 2025 season.

Essex County Cricket Club on Thursday (October 6) confirmed that the Club Captain will return to the side for the next three seasons.

The club has been happy with Westley's progress as a leader and player and on the back of some stellar performances, the right-handed batter has been retained by the Chelmsford-based club.

Making an immediate impact as captain after being named as the club captain in January 2020, he led the side to the Bob Willis Trophy in his first season in charge. It was followed up with the County Championship Division Two title last year.

The 33-year-old batter stated that he had no hesitations in extending his contract with the club.

“I’m thrilled to be staying at Chelmsford and I’m excited about what the next three years have in store. It was an easy decision for me to make. We have an extremely talented squad full of high-quality players and I feel we have a team that’s capable of competing for trophies across all three formats.

It’s also a special Club to play for. I’ve said it countless times, but I genuinely believe Essex have the best Members and fans in the country.
