On Monday, Rohit Sharma confirmed that India would prefer Shubman Gill over Ishan Kishan as the second opener in the first ODI against Sri Lanka.

This call didn't go well with Indian fans as well as experts, as Kishan hammered a scintillating double ton in the last ODI he played against Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, legendary former Indian pacer Venkatesh Prasad has slammed the Indian think tank for axing Kishan.

Prasad took to his Twitter handle to express his disappointment at the selection calls, which, according to him, have led to mediocre results for India in white-ball cricket.

Here's what Prasad tweeted

"Think fair would have been to give chance to a man who scored a double hundred in India’s last ODI, and in a series where India lost two games and the series. Have all the time in the world for Gill, but no way you drop a player for scoring a double ton,

"There is a reason we have underperformed in Limited overs cricket. Constant chopping changing and a guy who does brilliantly and is an X factor is dropped and mediocrity retained."
