Mohammed Siraj's cricketing journey has already experienced both ups and downs in the game, where one moment he was praised and criticised in the next. Siraj, since making his debut for India in 2019, has made a mark for himself as an aggressive pacer and is known for giving it all on the field.

In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, the 29-year-old has risen his game in the ODIs, where he is currently the second-ranked ICC bowler, having been in numero uno position in January. Siraj continued his good form in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), where is their leading wicket-taker with 15.

Former India bowler Rudra Pratap Singh has lauded the fast bowler and said that Siraj can replace Bumrah, and can become the next Mohammed Shami.

Speaking on Jio Cinema, the former T20 World Cup winner also hailed Siraj's fitness which has led to his improved performances.

Here's what Singh said

“I have been following Siraj for a long time now. When he joined the Indian team, his graph was really high and then slowly it started falling. But it is good to see that he has worked on a lot of things this time, fitness being a major point. Now if you look at the technical bit, he has worked a lot on his wrist position and follow through for which he is getting the ball top bounce better and is also bowling stump-to-stump.

"Of course, he can be a replacement for Bumrah. In fact, I feel, if his graph continues to increase he can be the next Mohammed Shami.”

Shami, too, is making the right kind of noise in the ongoing IPL for defending champions Gujarat Titans and is the tournament's leading wicket-taker with 17.

Interestingly, both Shami and Siraj have been knocking over batters in the powerplay, making them a deadly duo for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023.
