'We Just Let Them Down' - Brian Lara Explodes After KKR Loss

The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) blew another game while chasing despite being in a position of strength. Last evening against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), SRH needed 38 off 30 and ended up losing the match by five runs, helping their opponents stay alive in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. SRH's batting has been poor this season regardless of whether they batting first or second.

Head coach Brian Lara has pinned the blame on batters, who have time and again let their bowlers down, who have been terrific in restricting power-house batting sides. After Heinrich Klaasen's dismissal off Shardul Thakur, SRH lower-order crumbled under pressure and failed to get their team past the finish line.

Speaking at the post-match conference, Lara admitted that batters need to understand match awareness and the importance of partnerships.

Here's what Lara said

"We're trying to get a winning combination. We seem to be getting it, definitely in the bowling department. Those guys have put their hands up in nearly every single match. We just let them down with the bat. Obviously, the batters will know that the responsibility of winning the game on such a good batting track lay in their hands and we were unable to do it.

"I just believe that we have to place a little more importance on partnerships and understanding a little bit of match awareness. It's all great to be aggressive and have all the intent. But you got to use a little bit upstairs to get the job done."

The West Indies great also backed England's Harry Brook, who is having a horrid time this season, since making his maiden IPL hundred against KKR at Eden Gardens.

The Markram-led side are ninth on the points table, with three wins and six losses.
