On Sunday, India created history by securing a stunning 317-run victory to complete a series whitewash against Sri Lanka in Thiruvananthapuram.

Batting first, Virat Kohli (166*) and Shubman Gill (116) hit magnificent centuries to steer their side to a mammoth total of 390.

Sri Lanka could not even inch closer to the target as Mohammed Siraj scalped four wickets to bundle them out for a paltry 73.

After recording his best ODI figures, Siraj said that a poor IPL 2022 season motivated him to sharpen his skills with the white ball.

Siraj endured a poor IPL campaign in 2022, picking nine wickets in 15 games at an ordinary economy rate of 10.08. As the ace seamer put it, his failure in the IPL compelled him to work on his skills and fine-tune his white-ball bowling.

Here's what Siraj stated

"When my IPL went bad, I thought I wanted to get better in white ball cricket as well. I slowly started working on white ball skills. When I did well in 1-2 ODIs, I got the confidence that I would be able to do well in limited-overs cricket."

Having bowled 10 out of the 22 overs of the Lankan innings, Siraj was the pick of the Indian bowlers.

The right-arm pacer bowled out his quota of overs in search of a well-deserved fifer, but Kasun Rajitha defied him by safely playing out his last couple of deliveries.
