Australia all-rounder Ellyse Perry stated that the reigning white-ball champions wouldn't take Pakistan lightly in their upcoming ODI and T20I series, starting January 16 in Brisbane.

The Women in Yellow will lock horns with Pakistan Women in three-match ODI series, before the action moves to the shortest format for as many T20Is, starting January 24 in Sydney.

It will be Australia's final chance to properly analyse their plans and give the finishing touches to their T20 World Cup 2023 defence preparation before the marquee event commences in South Africa next month.

Currently, Australia Women are sitting at the helm of the ICC rankings in both ODIs and T20Is, while Pakistan Women are reeling at the ninth and seventh positions in the respective formats.

However, Australia, despite being the clear favourites to clinch both the series, Perry reckoned that the hosts will not take Pakistan lightly in either format and will look to give tough competition to the visitors.

Here's what Ellyse Perry said:

"They've had some new players come through and certainly their depth has built up. They're a team that is certainly developing, but equally, they are going to be a really good challenge for us and are capable of playing some really good cricket."

Perry also opened up on the new and much-hyped Women's Indian Premier League, which is set to get underway in March:

"It's probably a brand new frontier for the game and a really important one in terms of continual growth and progress. It's a really exciting prospect … the fact that it's happening is so important and an awesome opportunity for everyone."
