'On days when I haven’t done well, they start trolling, calling me names' - Ravindra Jadeja

With the advent of social media, trolling has grown exponentially as almost every star figure, including cricketers, at some point of their careers had borne the brunt of it.

India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is no exception as he was often mocked for his poor returns as a multi-faceted player not too long ago.

However, after his coming-of-age performance in the 2019 World Cup semi-final versus New Zealand, Jadeja's career transformed for better as the 34-year-old is now regarded as one of the best all-rounders going around in world cricket.

Commenting on trolls, Jadeja said that he had to cope up with the unnecessary criticism and also informed about his vow to change their opinions about him.

Here's what Jadeja said to The Indian Express:

"On days when I haven’t done well, they start trolling, calling me names. They say things without knowing the kind of hard work I have done to reach this stage. Small, small things … There are so many struggles and sacrifices that I don’t even remember now.

"Generally people keep judging you all the time, they say that’s all he will do, he will not improve, he has limitations. They don’t understand a simple principle that with time, one improves. From start to finish, one can’t be the same. I was worst when I started. So I was just saying that I will improve and once I do, your opinion about me will change. That’s when you will say ‘This is the all-rounder, India wanted'."

The southpaw is currently making the Aussies dance to his tunes with his five-for and half-century in the last Test helping India earn a 1-0 lead in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023.
