An injury layoff kept Washington Sundar out of India’s T20I setup for more than a year. The cricketer finally made his return to the team and is currently in New Zealand for three T20Is and three ODI matches.

Sundar is now banking on his Lancashire stint from earlier this year to place him in good stead for the New Zealand challenge.

Washington Sundar hoping to cash on Lancashire stint and NCA rehab

Ahead of the T20I series opener against New Zealand, Washington Sundar said that he was hoping to put up a good show considering the quality time he spent at the NCA and at the Lancashire Cricket Club.

“I have spent a lot of time at the NCA, my stint at Lancashire was amazing before I got injured, so I've worked a lot on my body, particularly my shoulder.”

Sundar also said that New Zealand is one of his favourite countries to visit. The all-rounder previously toured the country back in January 2020 as part of India’s T20I unit.

“New Zealand is one of my favourite countries, the weather and the people are really pleasant. Since we got here, we spent a lot of time going to restaurants and walking to shops. We enjoy doing those things, enjoy our privacy out here.”
