NZ vs IND 2022 | Simon Doull questions Shreyas Iyer and Co. for not bowling often

India's limited-overs side of the past was blessed to have several of their top-order batters, like Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina, and Sourav Ganguly, able to roll their arms. However, since 2016, the lack of part-time bowlers has forced Indian management to play all-rounders and specialist bowlers more often.

India, currently touring New Zealand, won the second match of the three-T20I series, which saw Deepak Hooda bowl and claim an incredible four-for with the stand-in captain Hardik Pandya not opting to chance his arm.

Former New Zealand paceman Simon Doull has raised concerns over India's lack of bowling options from their top-order batters. Pandya, after the match, also desired more bowling options going ahead.

Speaking to Prime Video, Doull, in particular, gave the example of Shreyas Iyer while explaining his point of view.

Here's what Doull stated

"That has always been the problem. When Hardik was injured, what do we do next? I mean, Shardul did a great job in the Test series in Australia. These guys around will do. But I am talking about the genuine batters,

"Shreyas Iyer. Why is he not bowling a lot of off-spin? Not that there are any shortage of spinners in Indian team to go and learn how to bowl off spin. Why is he not doing it. That is my question around the situation. These young guys need to know what their future is."

India will look to take the series 2-0 by winning the third and final T20I tomorrow, while the Black Caps, without regular skipper Kane Williamson would want to draw level.
